A Week before the Celebration from His Kindness Year Round!

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

It's difficult to believe Christmas is just a week away.

Years ago, the question was asked of me – If Christmas represents the celebration of the birth of Jesus, why don’t we ever have a birthday cake for Him?

As I was pondering this, thinking of the “usual” Christmas traditions of this season – Christmas trees and lights and ornaments and sending cards and giving gifts (don’t forget wrapping also) and singing carols and togetherness with friends and family and stockings and candy canes and wise men and shepherds and angels and Mary, Joseph, and the babe in swaddling clothes and then there is Santa and reindeer and etc. . . . . why have I never baked a birthday cake for our Redeemer?

It was my dear husband, Lee, who had asked me this question, almost twenty years ago.  Since that time, I have baked a birthday cake for Jesus every year.  Along with all the Christmas season goodies and desserts on December 25, there is now a birthday cake also.

I know if there were a celebration in heaven for the Son of God, I’m sure Lee would be in the midst of it each year, since that first December in 2005.  Celebrating the birth of the Savior with the Savior!  My mind can't even imagine this sort of jubilation!

This year, Happy Birthday cake for Jesus will be a Chocolate Chip Cake, with powdered sugar sprinkled on top . . . . . .

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

We love you!

Please remember the true reason of the season, and praise, glorify, honor and celebrate Jesus!

Luke 2:8-16 “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.  But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.  This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”  Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”  When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”  So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.  But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.  The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Prayerfully, your sister in Him!

Robin

  1. This year I am certainly reminded to be grateful for the abundance of blessings that have been showered on me. I was just slipping close to "complain" mode earlier today and your blog is a good reminder to get my circumstances into proper perspective. Thanks, Robin! And Merry Christmas!

  2. Oops. My comment belongs on your gratitude blog, not the birthday cake one! Oh, well... It's too late for me to be on the computer!

  3. Anne,

It can certainly be easy to slip into "complain" mode -- we are always works in progress! God has blessed me so much this year. It's not been an easy year, but the blessings far outweigh the difficulty.

And our Father is going to bless us again in 2013! Have a very Merry CHRISTmas, dear Anne! (And it's OK you meant to write this on the Prayers and Gratitude blog instead of this one!)

    Hugs,

    Robin
