Choose Peace from "His Kindness Year Round"


Peace.  Isn't that a beautiful, calming word?

I know our Father, the Creator, has given me all the peace He is going to give me.  Do I feel it every day or every hour?  Not necessarily.  Why?  Because it's my choice, or lack thereof, not to receive.  And it's the enemy trying to kill, steal and destroy.

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.  I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

If someone gave you a precious gift, such as peace, would you resist it?  Would you allow someone else, whom you know to be an enemy, to walk up and take it away from you? Probably not.

Why not accept the tremendous gift from the Lord?  Why allow satan or anyone else steal your peace?

Philippians 4:6-8 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable -- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy -- think about such things."

Life consists of choices.  We then accept the consequences, positive and negative, of our choices.

Choose peace in 2014.  Accept the peace of God.  I know I certainly am.

It's pay it forward time! from "His Kindness Year Round"


I read this week of an event beginning Friday, January 17 through Sunday, January 19 called "Pay it Forward”.  People are being asked to do at least one random act of kindness, not expecting anything in return. 

Yes, brothers and sisters, this is the year followers of Jesus need to step it up and continue stepping it up!  As Mordecai reminded Esther:

Esther 4:13-14 “. . . And who knows but that you have come to the Kingdom for such a time as this?” 

We are to remember it is our responsibility in obedience to the Lord to serve Him and others.  Too many people live with a “what’s in it for me” mentality.  The selfishness and greed of the enemy have attacked far too many.  As I recently mentioned from the first blog post in January 2012, God doesn't just provide His blessing on special days of the year.  His kindness is year round!  Just as our kindness should be.  Follow Him.

There is no such thing as coincidence, as I’ve just realized my first three posts of 2014 are about kindness.  Followers of Jesus, we live in an extremely wounded world.  It is critical that we resist the ways of the world, and abide by the example of the Savior.  We have to step it up in 2014 and prevail. 

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.”

It’s time to raise our goals in many areas and overcome the world, for such as time as this.

We are overcomers!

Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.”

Colossians 3:12 “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

How does your level of kindness rate? from "His Kindness Year Round"


Referring back to the post on January 3, I'm devoting Sunday, January 12th as "Be Extra Kind to Someone Day" in memory of Lee's birthday and his great depths of kindness to others.  It's a reminder that kindness matters.

We know we should be kind to people every day.  We are to be extra kind, above and beyond, every day.  Often with the busyness life entails and the inconveniences we experience, I wonder if we display acts of thoughtfulness to others as we should?  How we would rate if the Lord had a "kindness scale"?

This week, I am going to re-evaluate how I can increase my kindness to others.  And this entire year, I will strive to enhance my deeds of kindness every day!

"His Kindness Year Round" blog was started and is based upon God's great kindness to us daily.  Re-posting from the first blog post on January 25, 2012:

“Kindness Year Round . . . . Think about it for a second: Isn't God’s love bountiful to us year round? Aren’t His blessings available to us year round? He doesn't only show up at Easter or Christmas. He doesn't show up only in the good times or only in the difficult times. He is present all the time. We should show our love, care, kindness and thankfulness to others not only at Thanksgiving or Christmas or Valentine’s Day or birthdays -- but year round. Just as God does.”

Anyone want to join me in stepping up our deeds of kindness this year?

Jesus is our example, as He did give us the ultimate display of love and kindness when He sacrificed Himself for us.

Romans 5:8 "God demonstrates His own love for us in this:  While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Join the Third Annual "Be Extra Kind Day" from "His Kindness Year Round"!


A special event has been created on Sunday, January 12, 2014!  In memory of my husband's birthday (54th), join the third annual "Be Extra Kind to Someone Day"! You will have a full 24 hours to do something extra kind for someone else that you wouldn't normally do that day.  It could be for a spouse, family member, neighbor, friend co-worker, church member -- the newspaper carrier -- anyone!  No matter how small YOU may think the deed is, it will mean a great deal more than you think to the person on the receiving end.

Lee was a person with a truly kind and compassionate heart.  We loved the movie "Pay It Forward".  I know he would smile at any kind deed in his memory.

Our Savior gave us the ultimate display of love and kindness when He sacrificed Himself for us.
